sing a lake song

I was born in a little town called Freshwater on the southeast corner of Newfoundland, nearly as far as you can go in North America before your toes touch the Atlantic.

Growing up, there was always a radio or record blaring from somewhere in the house. From the early years, I remember a lot of traditional Irish-Newfoundland music, country and a pretty large helping of Elvis. Interesting to note that my hometown is about the same distance from Ireland as it is from Tennessee. Like a lot of kids, I got more into rock as I got older. In university, I played a mix of indie rock and traditional folk.

These days I still dig all sort of stuff. Bruce Springsteen, The Jayhawks, Mumford & Sons, Thompson Square, Neil Young, Lady Antebellum, Arcade Fire, Wilco, Zac Brown Band, Tim McGraw, Gillian Welch, Adele, the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Radiohead, Nigel Kennedy, The Band, The Black Keys, Darius Rucker. A pretty wide range.

I write rock and country songs. Acoustic guitar's my main instrument, and I dabble a bit on piano.

Well, thanks for stopping by. Drop me a line if you'd like to hear some demos or want to try writing together.

Take care.
